Refund Policy – Notice of Cancellation
This refund policy will apply to all terminations for any reason, by either party, including student decision, expulsion, course or program cancellation, non-payment of tuition per agreement, or TIGI Hairdressing Academy Newtown closure.
- When calculating refunds, TIGI Hairdressing Academy Newtown will use the policy mandated by the State and /or federal regulatory agencies or special programs for each student, as applicable.
- For all applicants who cancel enrollment or students who withdraw from enrollment a fair and equitable settlement will apply.
- Applicants not accepted by TIGI Hairdressing Academy Newtown shall be refunded all monies paid to the school except the NON-REFUNDABLE application fee of $100.00.
- If student (or in the case of student under legal age, his/her parent or guardian) cancels the enrollment in writing within three business days of signing the enrollment agreement, all monies collected by TIGI Hairdressing Academy Newtown will be refunded except the NON-REFUNDABLE application fee of $100.00, even if the student has begun classes.
- If a student cancels the enrollment after three business days of signing the contract but prior to starting classes, a refund of all monies paid to the school less the NON-REFUNDABLE application fee in the amount of $100 will be made.
- The “official cancellation / withdrawal date” will be determined by:
- Postmark on written notification provided by the student to TIGI Hairdressing Academy Newtown
- Date said notification is delivered to TIGI Hairdressing Academy Newtown in person
- The date of expulsion by the school
- 14 days after the last day of attendance without notification
- The scheduled date of return of an approved Leave of Absence
- A student is not required to provide written notification of their withdrawal
- An applicant is not accepted by the school
- A student or legal guardian cancels the enrollment agreement within three business days
- A student cancels the contract within three business days
- A student notifies the school of their withdrawal
- Unofficial withdrawal for clock hour students is determined by TIGI Hairdressing Academy Newtown through monitoring clock hour attendance at least every thirty (30) days.
- Actual refunds are calculated based on the student’s last verifiable date of attendance. Timeliness of refunds is determined using the student’s withdrawal or termination date. The date of withdrawal determination for students on leave of absence shall be the earlier of the scheduled date of return from the leave of absence or the date the student notifies the institution that the student will not be returning.
- Any money due the applicant or student shall be refunded within 45 days of the formal cancellation/ withdrawal date of determination. This applies to official, and unofficial withdrawals.
- For students who enroll and begin classes but withdraw prior to course completion (after three business days of signing the contract), the following schedule of tuition earned by the school applies.
- If TIGI Hairdressing Academy Newtown cancels a course and/or program and ceases to offer instructions after students have enrolled and instruction has begun, TIGI Hairdressing Academy Newtown shall at its option; Provide a pro-rat refund to all students transferring to another school based on the hours accepted by the receiving school.
For non-transferring students,
Ricci’s Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy/TIGI Creative School shall at its option provide completion of the course and/or program, or provide a refund of all monies paid.
Refunds are calculated on scheduled hours.

- In the case of disabling illness or injury, death in the student’s immediate family or other documented mitigating circumstances, a reasonable and fair refund settlement will be made.
- If permanently closed or no longer offering instruction after a student has enrolled, and instruction has begun, TIGI Hairdressing Academy Newtown will provide a pro rata refund of tuition to the student. A list of all students who were enrolled at the time of TIGI Hairdressing Academy Newtown closure, including the amount of each pro- rata refund, will be submitted to the accrediting agency.
- If the course is canceled subsequent to a student’s enrollment, and before instruction in the course has begun, the school will either provide a full refund of all monies paid or completion of the course at a later time. If the course is cancelled by the school and ceases to offer instruction after students have enrolled, and instruction has begun, the school shall at it’s option; provide a pro-rata refund for all students transferring to another school, or provide completion of the course and/or program, or provide a full refund of all monies paid.
- TIGI Hairdressing Academy Newtown does not participate in any teach-out plans with other institutions. Students who withdraw or terminate prior to course completion are charged a cancellation or termination fee of $100.00.
- This refund policy applies to tuition and fees charged in the enrollment agreement. See below.
- (1500-hour program: $19,000 tuition, non-refundable $100 application fee, $200 enrollment fee, $3,200 student kit)
- (1000-hour program: $14,000 tuition, non-refundable $100 application fee, $200 enrollment fee, $3,200 student kit)
- (600-hour program: $8,750 tuition, non-refundable $100 application fee, $200 enrollment fee, $1,500 student kit)
- Other miscellaneous charges the student may have incurred at TIGI Hairdressing Academy Newtown (EG: extra kit materials, books, products, unreturned school property, etc.) are not included in the tuition price, are non- refundable, and will be calculated separately at the time of withdrawal. All fees are identified in the catalog and in this enrollment agreement.
- If a student withdraws prior to course completion, a calculation for return of funds will be completed and any applicable returns by TIGI Hairdressing Academy Newtown shall be paid, as applicable.
- After allapplicable returns have been made, this refund policy will apply to determine the amount earned by TIGI Hairdressing Academy Newtown and owed by the student.
- If the student has received personal payments of aid, he/she may be required to refund the aid to the applicable program.
- If a Title IV financial aid recipient withdraws prior to course completion, a calculation for return of TIV funds will be completed and any applicable returns by TIGI Hairdressing Academy Newtown shall be paid, as applicable, first to unsubsidized Federal Stafford Student Loan Program; second to subsidized Federal Stafford Student Loan Program; third to Federal Pell grant Program; fourth to other Federal, State, private or institutional student financial assistance programs; and last to the student.
- After all applicable returns to TIV aid have been made, this refund policy will apply to determine the amount earned by TIGI Hairdressing Academy Newtown and owed by the student.
- If the student has received personal payments of Title IV aid, he/she may be required to refund the aid to `the applicable program.
